After having obtained responsibility for different IT-related management positions in the consumer goods and service industry, Roland von Gehlen was appointed CIO of the retail fashion company Jean Pascale, active in Germany. Then he joined the globally active Otto Group, where he later became responsible for the Group’s central software development division, before taking on the role of the Group Information Security Officer (CISO) and Group Data Protection Officer. In this role, he was responsible for the Group´s IT compliance and advised i.a. the German representatives of the EU Commission on defining the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Today, he advises well-known companies and organizations in the areas of data protection and IT security, and works as a certified external data protection officer and information security officer (ISO).
